UX/UI / Iconography
ABN AMRO launched a new brand identity in 2023, including a custom typeface, ABN AMRO Sans. With this update, all icons on the website and app needed a redesign to match the new style.
My team and I were responsible for updating 860 icons—360 system icons and 500 product icons.
I was in charge of creating clear guidelines for the system icons, defining key design rules for stroke width, curves, and the final delivery to the development team.
Consistency: The new style ensures all icons look uniform and align with ABN AMRO’s brand and the custom typeface.
Vector Format: Icons will be delivered in vector format so they can be easily resized without losing quality.
Multiple Formats: Icons can also be delivered in formats like PNG and SVG if needed.
The updated icons will give ABN AMRO a fresh, consistent look across all platforms. Key steps include:
Initial Samples: A few icons will be designed first and checked by the client. Once approved, the rest will be created.
Guidelines for System Icons: New rules will be written to guide the design of system icons, ensuring future consistency.
Delivery: The final icons will be delivered in formats like AI, PNG, and SVG for easy use.
This approach will ensure a smooth transition to the new icon style, strengthening ABN AMRO’s visual identity.
